Factory manager robbed outside bank branch

GUJRAT: Four robbers took away Rs1.4 million from the manager of a local factory outside the Habib Bank Limited branch here on Tuesday on Sargodha Road in Civil Lines police precincts.

However, the driver of the factory overpowered one of the fleeing robbers.

Reports said staff of a building block manufacturing unit owned by former PTI candidate from NA-105 Afzal Gondal had withdrawn Rs1.4 million from the HBL branch. As soon as they put the cash in the car, four robbers snatched the amount at gunpoint and fled.

Car driver Ehsan Khan overpowered one of the fleeing robbers and lateron handed him over to police.

Police have cordoned of f the main entry and exit points of the city besides launching a search operation in the Afghan locality since the arrested man told the police that they belonged to the area located along Ring Road, Peshawar.

Police are looking for the local links of the suspects.

The local business community has condemned the incident and urged the authorities to take preventive measures especially during the last 10 days of Ramazan.

A number of businessmen and local PTI activists visited the the factory on Gujrat Bypass Road to express solidarity with Mr Gondal.
