Dengue team member thrashed

SHEIKHUPURA: A female member of a dengue survey team was severely beaten up by two women when she entered their house to check dengue larva at Ferozewala town on Tuesday.
According to police, Rukhsana Batool knocked at the door of a house to check the dengue larva.
The door was opened by the wife and a daughter of the house owner, Younis.
As Ms Batool entered the house and sought permission to check the larva, the two women got infuriated and thrashed the survey team member with shoes and sticks, causing her serious injuries. She was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Ferozewala police registered a case and started investigation.
The suspects claimed they thought Ms Batoolwas a robber who entered their house in the garb of dengue team member.
They said in the recent past women had been robbing houses in the area, pretending to be members of survey teams.
FLEES CUSTODY: A man accused of raping his daughter allegedly jumped into the River Ravi in handcuffs, fleeing police custody on Wednesday.
According to Mangtanwala police, they were returning after getting conducted DNA test of the accused, Liaqat, at a laboratory in Lahore, when he suddenly fled their custody at the Ravi bridge near Baloki Headworks and jumped into the river.
Police were looking for the fleeing accused.
According to police, Liaqat was arrested on the complaint of his wife who alleged he had been raping their daughter.
