DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Two minor girls were killed and two women and a child were injured when a mortar shell landed on a house in Zarkani village of Daraban tehsil here, the police said on Sunday.

The family said that the mortar shell fired from an unknown location struck their house on Saturday night. As a result of the shell, two girls died on the spot, and two women and a child sustained injuries. The deceased and the injured were shifted to a hospital.

Later, the relatives placed the bodies on the Zarkani Mor on the Dera-Quetta highway in protest.

The protesters demanded that the culprits should be arrested without delay. The road blockade caused long queues of vehicles on the artery.

Later, elders and police authorities held talks with the protesters, assuring them of ensuring early arrest of the culprits, leading to reopening of the road.
