Five marble factories fined for illegal power use

PESHAWAR: The Peshawar Electric Supply Company has severed power supply to five marble factories in Buner and fined the owners for taking direct link from main power supply line.

According to a statement issued here on Monday, following the directions of Pesco chief executive Engr Shabir Ahmad, drive against illegal use of electricity was started throughout the province to ensure end to illegal connections. Pesco surveillance Wapda house teams under the supervision of director Tahir Moeen conducted raids in different areas of Matta subdivision of Swat circle where 43 consumers in Khawaza Khela subdivision were caught involved in power pilferage.

During checking in Daggar subdivision of Buner, five marble factories were caught for illegal use of electricity. In Chakdara subdivision, 11 domestic consumers were caught for power pilferage. The statement said the drive against illegal use of electricity and direct hooks would continue.

Meanwhile, a safety seminar was held at Wapda House for the awareness of linemen on Monday. On the occasion, Pesco chief directed the technical staff to adopt all precautionary measures to avoid electrocution and electric shocks for their own safety. —Bureau Report
