KARAK: The councillors of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf have revolted against their district nazim, alleging his `unconstitutional` steps are earning bad name for the party in Karak.

Addressing a press conference here on Monday, PTI councillors Azmat Khattak, Wahab Qasim and Sikandar Azam alleged that annual budget for the fiscal year 2017-18 was prepared in the house of district nazim instead of the district council.

They alleged that no consulta-tion was made with them in preparation of budget. They added that only few district councillors were obliged in the budget while most of them were deprived of their rights.

The councillors said that they did not let the budget passed from the district council to stop the unconstitutional steps of the district nazim, who also belonged to PTI.

They said that they informed their party leadership about the situation in the district council.

They said that PTI leadership would support them instead of the district nazim.

The councillors resolved to fightconstitutional battle against their party district nazim. They said that they extended support to opposition benches in the district council against corruption.

They said that out of seven PTI councillors, only two were supporting the district nazim.

They said that councillors elected on reserved seats were supporting district nazim as they were obliged to him because MPA Gul Sahib Khan, the brother of the nazim, selected them for the reserved seats.

The councillors also criticised selection of Makoori, Chokara and Mithawala for the modal villagesand said that it was unjust as other areas were more backward than the said villages.

They said that cancellation of Annual Developmental Programme for 2016-17 was manifestation of the corruption by district nazim. They alleged that Rs10.6 million was earmarked for purchase of new vehicles in the budget and one of the vehicles would be given to deputy commissioner as he was a supporter of the district Nazim.

The councillors said that they would launch a protest against deputy commissioner after settling issues with the district nazim.
