GB govt accused of ignoring people`s issues

GILGIT: The leader of opposition in Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly, Advocate Amjad Hussain, said that Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf government failed to deliver.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, he said that PTI government completed nine months in GilgitBaltistan but no government representative including chief minister was present in office to listen to public grievances.

The opposition leader, who is also local president of Pakistan Peoples Party, said people were facing numerous difficulties and hardships. He said there was lack of medical facilities for Covid-19 patients in the region while development process was suspended.

`Cabinet members are not serious. The chief minister has spent seven months in Islamabad out of nine months of his government to avoid public issues,` said Mr Hussain.

He said that government did not arrange a single function on Defence Day of Pakistan. It seemed PTI government could not realise the importance of the day, he added.

The opposition leader said that inflation and unemployment were on the rise. He said that people were affected by floods but government was not visible anywhere in the region.

He said that juveniles were sent to prisons on fake allegations of misuse of social media in Gilgit-Baltistan. He said that government had no mechanism to settle public issues.

Mr Hussain said that people were frustrated and wanted resolution of their issues. He alleged that policies were formulated by non-governmental organisations.

He said that performance of government was disappointing. He said that PPP for the first time demanded status of province for Gilgit-Baltistan. Correspondent
