WHITEWASH or a clean sweep, whatever it was, we have lost the Test series against Bangladesh, defeated in two consecutive matches in Rawalpindi. After losing against minnows, like the United States, Zimbabwe, Afghanistan, Ireland and others, is there any other team left to embarrass us? Like millions of others, I have often criticised the performance of the national cricket team, but now I feel that the team is beyond criticism. Gone are the days when we would remain glued to television screens during cricket matches, and women were seen praying for the team`s success. Generally, the team did not disappoint the nation. Whenever it failed, TV screens were broken, as was least expected the team to lose.

Unfortunately, now the craze for cricket is substantially decreased, television screens are nolongerbroken,and people have taken the downslide as granted. That being so, why should we continue to spend so much money on a dead horse? Let it be played by the Lords.
