When elephants fight

2015-10-08
A FAMOUS English idiom says: `When two elephants fight, it is the grass that suffers` The residents of Askari II Colony, Rawalpindi, experience, the ravages the grass suffers when two elephants fight.

The Chaklala Cantonment Board (CCB) and the MES Department, Rawalpindi, had a tiff over the settlement of long outstanding dues against the CCB. In order to put pressure on the bad paymaster, i.e.

CCB and MES authorities, without informing anyone, blocked the supply of water to Askari-I and Askari II Colony on Oct 4.

As a result, the residents of Askari II Colony remained without water for four days in this hot weather. The flow of water supply to Askari I is also af fected.

MES displayed an overbearing attitude when it did not serve any notice on the Colony residents through the proper channel. They were taken by surprise. I hope in future the residents will be forewarned.
