PESHAWAR: Representatives of various civil society organisations of Fata on Wednesday demanded scraping of the Frontier Crimes Regulations, merger of the tribal region into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and provision of all basic facilities of life to the tribesmen.

They were speaking at a seminar at the Peshawar Press Club attended by youth and students from different tribal regions.

The speakers said the Fata youth irrespective of their political affiliations would launch a movement against the misuse of FCR by the political administrations.

They supported the Fata parliamentarians` move for bringing the tribal region into the mainstream. They urged the government to give Fata women the right of being nominated on the reserved seats so they could represent their gender in the National Assembly and Senate.

Similarly, they demanded of the government to ensure extension and proper implementation of the Qanoon-i-Wirasat (inheritance law) in Fata so women could get their share in property.

The speakers expressed concern over the non-availability of proper medical facilities to tribesmen and urged the government to set up new hospitals and ensure provision of free medicines to them. They said most educational institutions were closed due to lawlessness.

Prominent among the speakers were Fata Lawyers Forum leader ljaz Mohmand Advocate, Takra Qabailee Khwendi convener Shahida Shah, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Fata women wing president Anita Mehsud and Fata Youth Alliance representative Abid Afridi. Bureau Report
