Lawyers quit PTI in Nowshera

NOWSHERA: At least 20 members of the Insaf Lawyers Forum, Nowshera, resigned from the basic membership of Pakistan Tehreeki-Insaf over what they alleged unilateral decisions of Chief Minister Pervez Khattak on issues related to the lawyers andparty.

The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by former advocate general Mian Shuja Shah Kakakhel. A written note has been signed by at least 20 ILF members, who alleged that Mr Khattak had not been taking them into confidence on issues related to the party and ILF, Nowshera.

They said that the chief minister had appointed Mohammad Riaz advocate as an additional advocate general at the Peshawar High Court without consulting them.

They alleged that Mr Riaz had voted against the party members and backed candidates of other parties.

They said that Mr Khattak was not following the manifesto of the party.

The lawyers who resigned from basic membership of the party included Shuja Shah, Ayaz Khan , Raj Wali Khan, Mohammad Saeed,Ishfaq Ahmad, Mohammad Usman, Mohammad Siyar, Haroon Rasheed, Gul Sadbar, Taimur Anwar, Qazi Naseerul Haq, Sanaullah , Mohsin Khan , Mohammad Sohail, Mohammad Ilyas, Zaheer Abbas, Shariq and Mohammad Tahir.

DRIVING LICENCE: First driving licence mobile unit was inaugurated at the Police Lines, Nowshera, by DIG Mardan region Mohammad Alam Shinwari the other day.

Speaking on the occasion, district police officer Wahid Mehmood said that the Nowshera police had started the mobile facility to issue driving licences even in far-flung areas of the district.

He said that a doctor, photographer and lady staff for facilitating female applicants would be present in the mobile service to provide them the learning chit on the spot.

The DIG said that public participation in policing was ensured through different committees like district safety commission, dispute resolution councils and others at different levels to monitor performance of the police. Correspondent
