Edwardes College remembers Ziaul Qamar

PESHAWAR: Edwardes College on Saturday arranged a condolence reference in memory of late Prof Ziaul Qamar.

Mr Q amar, a longtime f aculty member at the college, died in August.

The ceremony was attended by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, college`s principal Brig Nayyar Firdaus, faculty and students of the institution and family members of the late professor, who were especially invited to the occasion.

Mr Jhagra paid tribute to the late professor, lauding his professional capabilities as well as the services rendered by him for promotion of education and image building of the institution.

He said apart from contributing his services as a learned figure in the field of education, Mr Qamar also did a lot in reforming the society.

The governor, who is also chairman of the college`s board of governors, while expressing his deeply felt sympathies with the members of the bereaved family, said the late professor was his personal friend and was close to him.

He said the moments passed in Mr Qamar`s company were memorable and there was need to keep his services alive. Mr Jhagra, who himself is an alumni of the college, also paid tributes to the college for contributing to development of the country. Later, he also prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul.Bureau Report
