PESHAWAR: The Awami Muslim League has called for fresh elections in the country.
`The people are fed up with bad governance and socio-economic crisisin the country and therefore,the holding of fresh general elections is the only solution to their misery, AML central secretary general Ghazala Mehmood told the oath-taking ceremony of the party`s newlyelect provincial cabinet at the Peshawar Press Club on Saturday.
The AML leader claimed that the PML-N government had failed to deliver and thus, disappointing the people.
She also said the government had taken no steps to end energy crisis and therefore, protests were staged countrywide.
Ms Ghazala said currently, the country didn`t have true political leadership and so, the people should vote sincere and honest candidates to power in the next elections.
She said the AML was only the party that knew how to steer the country out of economic crisis andtherefore, the people should vote for it in the next elections.
The AML leader said her party would initiate a vigorous campaign for the accountability of corrupt rulers.
She said the party would actively participate in the next elections and consult other political parties for mutual cooperation and support for it.
Ms Ghazala said the AML would field candidates for most national and provincial assembly seats in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the upcoming general elections.
AML provincial president Arshad Hussain, who was also in attendance, said serious ef forts would be made to strengthen the party across the province.
He said corruption was the basic hurdle to the country`s development.
