QUETTA, Nov 7: The Balochistan government owes Rs102 billion in outstanding bills to the Quetta Electric Supply Company (Qesco).
According to sources, the provinces have electricity dues of Rs173bn outstanding against them.
The sources said the Sindh government owed Rs43.74bn, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and Fata Rs19.99bn and the Punjab government Rs8.69bn. The Azad Kashmir government owed Rs22.92bn.
They said that in Balochistan the biggest defaulter was the provincial government, followed by farmers.
Due to non-recovery of dues, Qesco was facing a serious financial crisis.
According to a Qesco official, the company was facing problems in recovering dues in remote areas.
