LAHORE: Keeping in view the prevailing spell of heavy smog in the province, the Punjab School Education Department on Tuesday changed timings for both public and private schools.

All the public and private sector educational institutions in Punjab shall observe 9am to 2:30pm timing from Monday to Thursday and on Saturdays. On Friday, the timing will be from 9am to 12:15pm.

Punjab Schools Education Department Secretary Dr. Allah Bakhsh Malik has issued a notification to this effect.

According to the notification, these timings will be observed with immediate effect till further orders. The step has been taken in view of the intense smog across the province.

Parents have been demanding that the authorities change the timings as it has become difficult for children to reach schools on time owing to dense smog. — Reporter
