Kaira critical of rulers’ ‘volatility’

2018-11-08
LAHORE: Punjab PPP President Qamar Zaman Kaira says the rulers are failing on each front but are not learning any lesson from the past mistakes.

He was talking to the media after a meeting of the party’s executive here on Wednesday.

Referring to the federal finance minister’s statement that through Saudi and Chinese visits the balance of payment issues stood resolved, he said the ruling party would discuss the foreign policy like they were talking against political rivals – saying one thing in the morning and backtracking from it in the evening.

About the $3 billion Saudi aid, the PPP leader said the amount would remain parked in Pakistan’s accounts without authorising the latter to utilise it like in a movie of late actor Rangeela in which a sum of Rs700,000 was given to the hero without the powers to spend the same.

He claimed the currency swipe agreement with China had been signed by former president Asif Zardari besides treaties in agriculture and food sector.

Mr Kaira also criticised the [five million] housing project and termed it a lollipop for the poor masses.

He lamented that in response to cooperation offers in the larger national interest the ruling party was taunting that the opposition was seeking NRO (deal). — Staff Reporter
