No coalition

2021-11-08
(EDITORIAL) Every now and then interested quarters set rumours afoot of the likelihood of the League-Congress coalition in Bengal. The Bengal Premier Mr. Suhrawardy has more than once debunked the idea... . The motives of those who canvass such a coalition in Bengal are too apparent. That is the one province where Muslims have effective power; therefore the Congress must be brought in to play the part of fifth columnists.

. .The participation of the Muslim League in the Central Interim Government is not on the basis of an agreed coalition with the Congress.

The League ... is there in spite of strenuous efforts by the Congress to keep it out ... the League is there to prevent the Congress from doing mischief. That is not the basis of a real coalition... .

.If any of the five, or all of the five, represent atives of the Muslim League show any signs of succumbing to the doubtful and ephemeral charm of `personal contact` [with Congress representatives in the central interim government], it will be exceedingly strange to say the least. But such a contingency cannot arise because the five who are there are not only trusted but tried. Dawn Delhi
