Let justice prevail

2021-12-08
THE brutal murder of a Sri Lankan man in Sialkot over blasphemy allegations is highly condemnable. However, such horrible episodes have been a part of our history for long. The incident has shocked and shamed everyone from the officials to the common man. The question is: will we witness something different in this horrific incident, or will things go the way they went in the past? Is condemnation enough to stop such incidents in the future? Had this been the case, we would not have witnessed this brutality by the mob in Sialkot. Instead of tweeting how horrible the incident was, the officials must ask themselves some serious questions.

The worst thing that can happen, and might actually happen, is that the matter will soon be forgotten and life will move on till we have another gruesome incident to shake us up.

The fact is that we have become desensitised. Considering our past experiences, we can only hope that justice will prevail in this case. One cannot be too sure about it though.
