Gunmen loot bus passengers

TOBA TEK SINGH: Late on Tuesday, four gunmen boarded an Islamabad-to-Faisalabad bus,took controlofit, and then drove it to an empty road in Faisalabad where they plundered the passengers.

According to the police, the gang in a car halted the bus after it turned from the motorway`s Sahianwala interchange and was on the Faisalabad Expressway close to the Nullaywala Canal Bridge.

Three of them boarded the bus and ordered the driver to take a bypass road to take the vehicle to Khurrianwala, where they robbed the passengers of their belongings, mobile phones and cash.

A passenger named Khadim Hussain was also hurt as a result of his resistance and was shif ted to the Allied Hospital.

The police are pursuing the criminals.

BUSTED: The Faisalabad Agriculture Extension Department uncovered a bogus DAP and single super phosphate fertiliser manufacturing facility at the Faisalabad Industrial Estate Development and Management Company(Fiedmc) on Wednesday.

The owner lacked a licence to produce fertilisers, of ficials informed the media.

The Fiedmc police opened an investigation against owner Irshad Ahmad Bhatti after the team seized non-standard fertilisers worth more than Rs4 million.

ACCIDENT: Near Chak 351-GB, Nagra, on the Toba-Chichawatni Road, a bus struck a tractor-trolley parked nearby that was loaded with sugarcane, injuring the conductor and the driver.

Due to strong fog`s impact on visibility, the accident happened.

Both conductor Qurban Ali and driver Mursaleen were admitted to the DHQ Hospital.

Rescue 1122 also administered first aid to some passengers who had minor injuries.

Meanwhile, two vehicle occupants were hurt in a fog-related collision in Gojra.

According to Rescue 1122, a tractor-trolley and a van collided close to Chak 359-JB, Nangal.

Several passengers suffered wounds, but Sarfraz Masih and Muhammad Arshad, two of the badly injured, were sent to the Gojra THQ Hospital.
