Protest against killing of man in `staged encounter`

RAHIM YAR KHAN: Residents of Bhong area on Wednesday staged a demonstration at their village Mumdani against what they alleged the killing of a man by police after the f amily refused to pay Rs1 million for his release.

On the other hand, police claimed that robbers were killed in an `encounter` on Tuesday night.

On Wednesday, the relatives of [deceased] Amin Indhar holding copies of the Holy Quran gathered in their Basti Mumdani of Ghulam Muhammadabad in Bhong police limits and protested against the `staged` police encounter.

The father of Amin told the media that Bhong Station House Officer Naveed Wahla and Inspector Malhi killed his son in a `staged` encounter. He said earlier locals had paid Rs200,000 to police for release of their man and now police were allegedly demanding Rsim for release of Amin.

He alleged that police used to arrest `innocent` people and kill them over non-payment.

Police spokesperson Saif Ali Wains in a message claimed that police in a targeted operation killed two members of Indhar Gang Amin Indhar and Ghaf far Sailar.

According to Wains, they were present in Gagri Bagh and police also recovered kalashnikovs from them. The other accomplices managed their escape.

He said they were allegedly wanted in the killing of police constable Akbar and involved in many criminal activities including kidnap for ransom, dacoity and murder. Correspondent
