LAHORE: The Traffic Police issued a record 111,000 driving licences during the last 24 hours across the province.

A spokesperson for the Punjab police said on Thursday, the figures include all driving licences such as learning, national, international and renewal licences too.

He said around 27,000 driving licences were issued to the citizens in the provincial capital alone. Similarly, 8,113 licences were issued in Faisalabad, 7,843 in Gujranwala, 7,597 in Rawalpindi and 6,000 in Multan.

The spokesperson said more than 420,000 driving licences had been issued to the citizens in the last five days.

Inspector General of Police Dr Usman Anwar said the CCTV monitoring of all driving licence centres of the province was also being done from the special data centre at the Traffic Police Headquarters.

He said the traffic police offices and service centres in all districts of the province were providing driving licences to the citizens without any delay.

In big cities, the licences are being issued from the police offices 24 hours a day, seven days a week, he said adding the citizens can easily get their licences from any traffic police office, khidmat (service) centre, or police service van.

In this regard, more measures would be ensured for the convenience of citizens, he said.
