Widespread rain, snowfall in KP, Fata

PESHAWAR: Plain and hilly areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and adjacent tribal agencies on Wednesday received widespread rain and snowfall.
Snowfall in some areas was record of the current season.
High altitude areas of Hazara and Malakand divisions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Parachinar, Tirah and Shawal area of the tribal belt reported heavy snowfall.
Snow began to fall early in the morning and continued with interval on Wednesday.
After the snowfall, the main road between Abbottabad and Murree was closed to all sorts of traffic from Bagnother onward, while Abbottabad-Thandiyani Road was also closed from Kala Pani onwards.
All link roads of Galyat were closed due to landslide and snowfall.
The provincial capital also received light rain on Wednesday with the Met Office forecasting cloudy weather on Thursday.
The minimum temperature recorded in the capital city was two degrees Celsius.
Also in the day, around three inches snow fell in Parachinar.
Heavy rain and snowfall in upper parts of Hazara division made the weather chillier.
Most parts of the division have been gripped by the severe cold for two weeks.
The rain began in Mansehra, Battagram, Kohistan and Torghar districts early in the morning and continued intermittently.
Snowfall had begun in Kaghan and Siren valleys in Mansehra, Allai in Battagram and Kundia valley in Kohistan on Tuesday night.
Meanwhile, Thandiyani, Nathiagali and other small pockets of Galyat received heavy snowfall of the current season, while the rain lashed Abbottabad town. Light rain and snow continued throughout the day.
Closure of AbbottabadMurree Road via Nathiagali blocked entry of tourists from Islamabad and Punjab.
Police reported power breakdown in Galyat due to bad weather.
Some areas, including Thandiyani, Nathiagali, Donga Gali, Changla Gali and Ayubia, received snowfall from one to two feet.
Also, widespread rain was reported in Mingora city and its adjoining areas and snowfall on the hilly areas of Swat district, bringing the mercury down.
The temperature dropped to minus eight degree Celsius in Malam Jabba resort.
According to the reports coming in from hilly areas of the district, fresh spell of snow was recorded in Malam Jabba, Kalam and Maindam, where almost all mountains were covered by snow.
Besides, Mingora city and its adjacent areas on Wednesday received rain dropping the temperature in the city to minus two degree Celsius.
