APROPOS the news report `Watch list of religious freedom` (Jan 4). It may be said that the world is now to take lessons in religious tolerance and freedom from a rising messiah from the West whose own bigotry is writ large in his words, deeds, and administrative measures.
This bigot is a person who has never hesitated to disrespect Islam. This man brands terrorism as `Islamic`, and his first administrative action was to impose a ban on the citizens of half a dozen Muslim countries to enter the United States. His disdain for Islam is evident from the fact that he disallowed the traditional Iftar reception held annually in the White House.
He threw to the wind all diplomatic norms and international opinion by recognising Jerusalem, an occupied territory, as the capital of Israel. He has also announced an end to the aid given to the oppressed and helpless Palestinians.
He has now put Pakistan on the watch list of violations of religious freedom.
The list will grow longer as his (mis)rule meanders to its pathetic end and a once great country will stand alone, shamed and shunned.
