ON behalf of myself and the Jinnah Society, I express deep grief and condolences on the demise of retire Air Marshal Asghar Khan.

May his soul rest in eternal peace! He was a selfless and devoted officer of the Pakistan Air Force who rose to the highest rank by sheer hard work and dedication to his duty.

He was not only an exemplary head of the air force but also a political leader with the highest principles and utmost integrity.

Air Marshal Asghar Khan`s outstanding services to Pakistan led the Jinnah Society to select and confer on him the coveted Jinnah Award in April 2009.

To date 12 such awards have been conferred on Pakistanis who have rendered outstanding services.
