Two suspected robbers killed in ‘encounters’

KARACHI: Two suspected robbers were shot dead in separate encounters in Orangi Town and Al-Falah, Malir area, on Monday, according to officials.

Two suspects were allegedly looting citizens near Jauhar Chowk in Orangi Town in the limits of the Pakistan Bazaar police when a patrolling police party arrived there.

On seeing the police, the suspects resorted to firing, which was returned by the police, causing injury to one suspect. However, his accomplice took him away on a motorbike.

The police officer said that sometime later, the suspect abandoned his accomplice in Orangi Town-10 in the Mominabad police limits and fled. Area people called the rescue service people, who shifted him to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

The deceased was identified as Irfan Ali.

In the Al-Afalah area, two suspects were looting citizens near Wilayat Shah Mazar when a police party reached there. In an ensuing encounter, one suspect was arrested in an injured condition while his accomplice escaped.

The wounded suspect, identified as Zulfiqar, 28, was transported to the JPMC, where doctors pronounced him as dead.
