ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Peoples` Party will shortly release a white paper on 2018 general elections covering what it describes as various aspects of prepoll, poll day and post-poll rigging, informed sources told Dawn on Tuesday.
`The white paper with a focus on Form-45 controversy is ready and will be released after a formal approval of its draft by PPP chairman Bilawal BhuttoZardari,` a source in the PPP said.
According to the sources, specific examples of political engineering meant to deny a level-playing field to the candidates of the parties now in the opposition, implication of strong opponents in false cases to give awalkover to some blue-eyed candidates will be part of the paper dealing with prepoll rigging.
They said the white paper would highlight the incidents of expulsion of polling agents from polling stations and the record number of unsigned Forms-45.
A senior PPP leader confirmed that a substantive part of the white paper would be devoted to the Form-45 controversy. He pointe d out that in data covering 78,000 Forms-45 only 66 had been signed by the PPP polling agents. `The ECP propaganda that the polling agents of losing parties had lef t the polling stations on their own is falsified by the fact that only 112 Forms-45 bear the signatures of PTI polling agents and only 78 those of PML-N polling agents,` he said.
