Senate panel assures all-out support to CPSP

KARACHI: A delegation of the Senate Standing Committee on National Health, Regulations and Coordination held a meeting with representatives of the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) on Tuesday, where the latter sought support for the college`s overseas initiatives.

The delegation led by Senator Amir Waliuddin Chishti, Chairman of the said committee, received a detailed briefing on CPSP`s training programmes and examination process from Prof Khalid Masood Gondal, senior vice president of the college.

Prof Gondal highlighted CPSP`s ongoing commitment to strengthening postgraduate medical e ducation both nationally and internationally, including collaborations with institutions in the UK and Ireland.

Prof Gondal, on behalf of CPSP, requested the senators to facilitate and support the CPSP in strengthening its overseas relationships and its rightful place, especially in the Middle East.

DG Medical Education Prof Aamer Zaman Khan spoke about CPSP`s efforts in the introduction ofinnovations and assessment, revamping research workshops, the establishment of a simulation center and a department of artificial intelligence.

In his remarks, Senator Chishti emphasised the importance of continuous improvement and assured the Senate`s full support for the college`s initiatives.

The delegation included senators Irfan Ul-Haque Siddiqui, Anusha Rehman Ahmed Khan, Masroor Ahsan, Muhammad Humayun, Liaquat Khan Tarakai and Fauzia Arshad.
