TOBA TEK SINGH: The people displaced by the River Ravi flooding have been shifted to safe places where they are being provided tents, food, medicines and fodder.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (revenue) Ahmad Khawar Shahzad said this on Wednesday during his visit to the riverside areas of Mai Safooran, Mull Fat yana, Haveli Tara, Jhallar Sagla and Chak 721-GB.
He said the work to improve spurs was in progress and contractors and irrigation department officials had been asked to complete it at the earliest.
He also stated that staffers from revenue, agriculture and livestock and dairy development departments had been deployed to help the villagers in case of more flooding while Rescue 1122, Civil Defence and thehealth department had been alerted in Kamalia and Pirmahal tehsils.
ARRESTED: Gojra Saddar police arrested a man for making a bogus call about house robbery in Chak 367-JB on Wednesday.
Police emergency 15 staff received a call from Tanweer Faisal late on Tuesday that his house had been broken into by five gunmen who fled with Rs1 million and other valuables.
When police arrived at the scene, he told them that his wife, Saba Nazir, had plotted the dacoity.
During investigation, police found his allegations wrong and soon he confessed to making the call only to get his wife implicated in the case. On that night, he had quarrelled with his wife over some issue.
Police arrested him under Section 29 of the Telegraph Act. Correspondent
