Punjab allocates Rs135m to improve healthcare services in Hazro

TAXILA: The provincial government would execute aRs135 million healthcare development programme for Hazro under which quality healthcare facilities and services will be provided to people at their doorsteps.
This was stated by member district monitoring committee and former provincial minister Jahangir Khanzada, while briefing media about the health development plan in Hazro town of Attock on Saturday.
He said that under the plan, as many as six Basic Health Units (BHUs) and one Rural Health Centre (RHC) in tehsil Hazro will be transformed into modern healthcare facilities. Besides, thisprogramme would help provide 100 per cent health coverage to the poorest across tehsil Hazro.
Khanzada further added that a sum of Rs15 million would be spent on each BHU while a sum of Rs45 million would be spent on RHC.
Responding to a question, he said that under the plan, the basic health unit at Jatyal, Haroon, Khakwani, Bhangi, Kamra, Shamshabad and RHC at Ghourghushti would be revamped.
`The revamp plan would significantly enhance the quality of healthcare services, providing the citizens with access to better medical facilities, equipment, and expertise`, he added. He was of the view that this multimillion development plan is atestament to the government`s dedication to providing quality healthcare services to all citizens, regardless of their geographical location. `The government will ensure the common man`s access to basic health facilities`, he added.
Responding to another question, he emphasised that under the leadership of Chief Minister Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the provincial government is using all available resources for providing better healthcare facilities to the people especially mothers and children in the province, and the priority areas ofthe targets are ruralfolk.
He said that targets have been set for improving basic health centres, ensuring adequate medical services for patients.Achieving these goals will enable the country to meet international obligations under the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030.
He stated that work on Rs35 million state-of-the-art trauma centres at the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital (THQ) complex Hazro would be resumed soon which was halted from the past year due to financialand technicalreasons.
Chief Executive District Health Authority Dr Asad Ismail said the BHUs in the health sector play a key role in reducing the burden of disease among local communities and also health sector development plan would be significant benchmark in providing quality healthcare and services to the public.
