CASABLANCA: An advance group of American specialists arrived here on Wednesday [Feb 8] to begin work on new American Air Force bases in Morocco. The group advance party of 2,000, reported en route aboard six vessels loaded with equipment for airfields of the American Air Force [to be shared with] the French under an agreement between the two countries.

The first task will be to build six new runways at the French naval base at Port Lyautey. Two-mile-long runways will be built at an airfield near here to handle long range bombers and airports at Agaider, Sale Mekens and Marrakech will be modernised.

In the first Census to be taken since Pakistan came into being, it was considered fitting that the Head of the State should be the first citizen to be enumerated in the Federal Capital.
