It was the eighth day since the caravan has been travelling to meet people of different areas from Karachi, Thatta, Sujawal, Badin and Thar desert.A large number of people of Umerkot, mostly farmers, fishermen and those in desert communities and civil society members accorded a warm welcome to the caravan participants. The caravan also participated in celebrations of International Day for Women held in the city to express solidarity with thewomen of desert areas.

After a short stay in the city, the caravan moved to Dhoro Naro town of Umerkot district where local singers joined it and performed Sufi songs to spread the message of peace and harmony in the province.

In his speech on the occasion, PFF chairperson Moha-mmad Ali Shah said they had extended the route to Mithi and Umerkot to bridge the gaps among communities who spoke different dialects like Kuchhi, Larri, Dhatki, Gujrati and other languages in Sindh from Karachi to Thatta, Badin, Mithi and Umerkot areas. He said the rulers had been hoodwinkingthe nation at the behest of capitalists. There was no real democracy, he said.

Sindh was rich in natural resources like oil, gas, granite, china clay, coal etc, but its people were malnourished, they had no water to drink, no employment to earn living and they were deprived of justice, he said.-Correspondent
