LAKKI MARWAT: The pensioners held a protest demonstration outside press club building here on Wednesday against what they called the hostile attitude of the government towards them.
The protesters gathered at Children Park from where they took out a rally and converged outside the press club after marching on old Hutchery Road. The rally was led by Sifatullah Khan, Rashid Ahmad and Iqbal Khan.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Sifatullah said that the retired employees were faced with numerous problems but the government had adopted a hostile attitude towards them.
He demanded 50 per cent increase in monthly pension of the retired employees and asked the government to increase family pension by 100 per cent. “The retired employees spent a major portion of their lives serving people hence they would not accept stepmother treatment by the government,” said another leader of the protesters.
He asked the government to provide Insaf Sehat Cards to the retired employees and increase their medical allowance. He urged the pensioners to unite for acceptance of their genuine demands.— Correspondent
