CM announces Rslbn grant for college

QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti has announced a special grant of Rs1 billion for the Government Postgraduate Science College Quetta and expressed his commitment to taking the institution under his direct patronage.

He made these remarks while visiting the college on Saturday. He said the college is a prominent academic centre for students in Balochistan, from which many notable personalities have graduated, including his father, late Ghulam Qadir Bugti.

The chief minister announced that all resources would be allocated to develop the institution along modern educational and IT research lines.

He directed the communications secretary to make the college an exemplary educationalinstitution in the province, stating that the provincial government is ready to provide a blank check for this purpose.

This visit marked the CM`s second trip to the college following a fire incident. He expressed satisfaction with the pace of restoration work.

He also praised former chief justice of the Balochistan High Court Muhammad Hashim Kakar for his guidance and interest in the rehabilitation of the affected college, noting his advice to visit the college post-fire and focus on its immediate restoration.

Mr Bugti directed the authorities concerned to prepare a comprehensive master plan for the college, which would include provisions for a playground, hostel, solarisation, and other essential facilities within a year. A modern IT park will be constructed to provide advanced scientific and technical resources for the students.
