THIS refers to four op-eds in your April 2 issue. All point to what we need to do. I.A.
Rahman in `What I must know` emphasises the need to know. Khurram Husain in `Paying the piper` points to the need for long-term thinking. Sadia Khan in `Corporate pipeline` says: `We need a business case for women in senior positions.` And, according to Dr Niaz Murtaza (`Ideological states`), we need to `define our creed clearly,` which we have not yet done in nearly 70 years.
There is a mountain of things that we need to do to prevent Pakistani `elites` from the suicidal course they have been merrily following. No, I do not allude here to a radical change in the relation with India, because thatis the universaltruthvoiced byevery sane person.
I allude to domestic reforms at the top of which sits the need for creating more provinces and especially breaking Punjab into two. Fixing a ceiling for individual landholding and levy of tax on agricultural income are the other needs.
Don`t go farther than the Wagah border.
Look across into India and see how it has prospered with these three domestic policies.
