KARACHI: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad on Wednesday announced that the issue of the lease of the Karachi Press Club would be taken up with the federal government and other authorities concerned to get it resolved as early as possible.
Mr Ibad was speaking at a function organised in his honour by the KPC, where he was awarded the lifetime membership of the club in `recognition to his services to the province in general and Karachi in particular for promotion of art, culture and literary activities and restoring confidence of traders and industrialists in the government`.
Referring to the problems raised by the KPC officials, the governor said the issue of development works in Hawkesbay and Malir, where journalists were allotted plots, would be taken up with the authorities concerned, as well as the Bahria Foundation, and expressed the hope that some workable solution would be found.
He expressed gratitude to the KPC for awarding him the membership and gave assurance to the club members that he would take up with the chief minister the issue of including an annual grant from the government to the club in the budget, adding that the chief minister had always extended him a positive response.
