PM arrives in China to attend Boao conference

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahid Khagan Abbasi arrived in the Chinese city of Sanya on Sunday to attend the Boao Forum`s Annual Conference for Asia to be held in Boao (Hainan).

The main theme of this conference is `An Open and Innovative Asia for a World of Greater Prosperity`.

The Boao Forum is a non-governmental and non-profit international organisation which was formally inaugurated in 2001 with an aim to promote and deepen economic exchanges, coordination, cooperation within Asia and between Asia and other parts of the world.

According to a statement issued by the Foreign Of fice here on Sunday, the prime minister would be one of the keynote speakers at the opening session of the forum along with Chinese President Xi Jinping, and other leaders attending the forum.

The prime minister would also hold bilateral meetings with the Chinese and other world leaders during his stay in China.

The forum will provide an opportunity to the prime minister to project the progress achieved by Pakistan in successfully implementing the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects.

The visit will also help in promoting Pakistan as a successful economic partner in the region as well as inthe global context.

According to Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Yao Jing, the beautiful island of Hainan would witness a grand event very soon where Chinese President Xi Jinping would elaborate the profound connotations of the new era and announce a series of new important measures for reform and opening up.

Yao Jing said that the Chinese president would clearly speak about China`s position on the idea of further promoting the building of a community with a shared future for the Asian people and the mankind, and creating a better future for Asia and the world.

President Xi Jinping will also have a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Abbasi to exchange views on bilateral relations and cooperation in various fields.

`The meeting will be a prelude to highlevel exchanges between our two countries this year and point out the direction for the development of China-Pakistan relations in the next stage,` the Chinese ambassador said.

He said that China-Pakistan relationship was becoming more closely integrated into each other`s respective development strategies.

`I am convinced that with the joint efforts of our two governments and peoples, China and Pakistan will make new strides in mutual, beneficial and win-win development. China-Pakistan relationship will stand out as a new model of stateto-state relations,` he said.
