Parties concerned about poor law, order in Waziristan

SOUTH WAZlRISTAN: Mutahida Political Aman Pasoon, a conglomerate of political parties, has raised serious concerns about the deteriorating law and order situation in the Lower South Waziristan district.

The alliance`s leaders expressed their views during a meeting held in the Wana Bazaar on Tuesday.

Local leaders of different parties, including Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf, Jamaat-i-Islami, Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party, Awami National Party, Pakistan Muslim LeagueNawaz and Pashtun Tahafuz Movement attended the meeting.

The participants criticised the government and security forces for their failure to address the escalating crisis, calling the current situation both unfortunate and alarming.

They demanded immediate and decisive action from both the federal and provincial governments, as well as from security forces, to restore peace in the region.

They warned that if immediate measures were not taken, they would be forced to resort to protests and civil disobedience.

The leaders expressed concern over the rise in criminal activities, including targeted killing, extortion, and abductions, which had left the locals in a state of constant fear and stress.

The meeting agreed to hold consultations with social and political stakeholders to formulate a comprehensive and unified plan of action to restore peace in the district.
