BAHAWALPUR: A five-year-old girl was found murdered under mysterious circumstances with her throat slit in a street of Basti Chanmadi of 13-W village in the limits of Vehari Saddar police station on Monday night.

According to a police spokesman, Dua Fatimah (5) had gone to a madressah (seminary) near her house for learning the Holy Quran.

Later, locals spotted her body lying in a pool of blood in a street of the village with her throat slit. This sent a wave of shock and fear in the whole area.

On receipt of the information about the incident, DPO Mansoor Aman, along with SP investigation Farooq Kamyana and a police team rushed to the village,inspected the scene and summoned forensic team, which collected evidence from the spot.The DPO also met with the parents of the murdered girl, expressed sympathy and assured them of early arrest of the killer(s).

He formed a special investigation team to trace the culprit(s).

The police, after shifting the body to hospital for the postmortem examination, registered a murder FIR against unidentified killer(s) of the minor girl.

SHOT DEAD: A youth allegedly shot his father deadinBastiDogranwala at Naiwala village in the limits of Makhdum Rashid police station, Multan, on Monday night.

According to police sources, Shaukat Ali had two wives and suspected the character of his first wife and his daughter-inlaw, wife of his son Faizan. As per the sources, Shaukat would also force Faizan to divorce his wife.

On Monday night, Shaukat was asleep at the house of his secondwife, when Faizan barged in and opened fire at his father, leaving him dead on the spot.

Makhdum Rashid police claimed to have arrested Faizan and moved Shaukat`s body to hospital for the postmortem examination.

ARRESTED: Multan police claimed to have solved the blind murder of a rickshaw driver and arrested his alleged killer within a week.

At a press conference, Multan City Police Officer (CPO) Sadiq Dogar said that the suspect, Waseem suspected that the rickshaw driver Asim had relations with his wife.

Last week, both scuffled over the issue and Asim suffered a fatal head injury during the fight. He died on the spot, while Waseem fled away.

Police registered a murder case and started investigation, finally tracing the suspect.

RAPE ATTEMPT: A vagabond allegedly barged in the house of awoman and attemptedto rape her in Shujabad city.

However, the woman raised an alarm and neighbours rushed to her house.

Meanwhile, the suspect managed to escape.

Police, on the complaint of the woman, registered acase against the suspect, who was yet to be arrested.

FIRE: A mysterious fire gutted the standing wheat crop on several acres at Chak No 42, Khaga Road, Dunyapur, in Lodhran district on Tuesday.

According to Rescue 1122 media coordinator, the fire erupted in a field, where wheat crop was cultivated on 120 acres and was ready for harvest.

On being informed of the blaze, Rescue 1122 firefighters reached the village and extinguished it, saving the remaining crop.The cause of fire could not be ascertained till the filing of this report.
