ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party lawmakers submitted an adjournment motion in the National Assembly on Monday to discuss tension along the PakAfghan border and the recent unprovoked firing by Afghan securityforces atPakistanivillages.
As many as 10 MNAs of the PPP, including Syed Naveed Qamar, Shazia Marri, Nafisa Shah and Azra Fazal Pechuho, requested that the NAproceedings be adjourned to discuss the serious matter of recent instances of firing by Afghan forces along the Chaman border, which had resultedin a loss of precious lives and infrastructure.
The adjournment motion says that the recent cross-border firing was indicative of a failure of thefederal government`s foreign policy, which has been unable to end tension between the two countries.
`Peace and harmony is vital between the two neighbours to attain stability and promote development in the region, but unfortunately over the last year or so, the government has failed miserably to improve the relations. We believe that it is a very serious matter which calls for immediate discussion on the floor of the House,` the adjournment motion says.
