KARACHI: As Dadu sizzled at 49 degrees Celsius, the current wave of hot weather, especially in the upper parts of Sindh, will persist for a few days more, the Met Department stated on Monday.

The maximum temperature recorded in Karachi was 38 degrees Celsius.

`Temperature remained above the 45-degree mark today in the lower parts of Punjab as well as the upper parts of Sindh and it will remain so for at least two days more,` said Met director Shahid Abbas. The hot weather pattern in these areas, he pointed out, would likely be broken by a dust storm but there was no forecast for rain anywhere.

`This relief, however, will be temporary and hot weather conditions will return as you 1(now that May has always been the driest part of the year in Pakistan,` he said.

According to the Met Department website, the maximum temperature was recorded in Dadu (49 degrees Celsius) followed by Larkana, Sukkur, Jacobabad and Rahim Yar Khan (all recorded 48 degrees Celsius).
