SIALKOT: The sports stadium in Chawinda, Pasrur tehsil, is facing official apathy and shortage of funds. Its rooms have become a haven for addicts while grass in the ground is untrimmed and cattle graze there.
The Punjab government had approved the project of sports stadium which was to become the area`s only facility for promoting sports and games among the youth.
The government had allocated Rs20m for the project but the work on it stopped two years back due to funds shortage and due to this reason the contractor left the project incomplete.
The social, sports and political circles have expressed concern over the situation and urged Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Gujranwala Commissioner retired Captain Muhammad Asif to ensure early completion of the sports stadium.
