Mishandling protest

2021-05-09
THE government handling of recent protests across the country by a right-wing entity left a lot to be desired. How could a government get into an agreement with a single organisation and make promises in the domain of national foreign policy? It then banned the organisation, but continued to hold negotiations with its leadership, which ended with the presentation of a resolution asking the parliament to have a debate on the matter concerned. This little trick did not fool anybody; neither at home nor abroad. The next day no debate about the resolution was allowed, and the house was prorogued.

The government now seems to be in no mood to even impose the ban it had earlier slapped. And this is what I find the most strange thing in the whole episode.
