A sense of priority

2025-05-09
EVEN when Pakistan is busy fighting off Indian aggression, the major opposition partyin the country and its allies are demanding nothing but the release of the incarcerated former prime minister who is in jail serving a sentence of 14 years after being convicted in a corruption case. They are doing this under the pretext of his participation in an all-parties conference (APC) that the government was planning to build nationalconsensus.Ifsuch aconcession is granted to him, then the relatives of other convicts will also be well within their rights to ask for the same concession for their near and dear ones.

Moreover, the said political party`s social media output is practically akin to what the Mukti Bahini did during the 1971 war with India. Any sane person would like to advise the party to bury the hatchet, at least for the time being, because such an attitude is only hurting the party`s image in the eyes of the people.
