Pracs ‘clears’ railway dues

By Our Staff Reporter 2016-06-09
LAHORE: The Pakistan Railways Advisory and Consultancy Services (Pracs) has cleared all the dues of its parent organisation, the Pakistan Railways.

“We have received a cheque from Pracs and the matter pertaining to the dues outstanding for 2014-15 stood resolved,” Pakistan Railways (PR) Chief Executive Officer Javed Anwar said on Wednesday.

The auditor general of Pakistan had pointed out in the annual report for 2014-15 that Pracs owed Rs328,390,000 for controlling commercial management of Rohi, Hazara, Fareed and Bolan express trains. Instead of making payment, the Pracs illegally ‘adjusted’ the outstanding amount on account of short composition of these trains which was in violation of the agreement.

Mr Anwar said that in compliance with the auditor general’s instructions, the Pracs management and PR authorities recently held a meeting.

After thorough deliberations, it was agreed that the total outstanding amount stood at Rs200,000,000 and the Pracs had delivered a cheque of the same amount to the railways, said Mr Anwar.
