DESPITE a number of letters, subsequent reminders and several e-mails (a total of 52 reminders) to K-Electric`s top-to-bottom authorities, international building code I (IBC I) officials failed to address my genuine grievances.
The exorbitant and unjustined monthly bills are still being charged under the ASSD theft code without installing dedicated meters despite elapse of more than three years. The illegal work was done by IBC I in a month, but the authorities in IBC I, Lyari, are still not ready to provide dedicated legal meters to flat owners.
Fake meters not owned by K-E were installed in Haji Ismail Mariwala building, Molvi Muhammad Sadiq Road, Khadda, Lyari, in March 2014 with the connivance of K-E officials of IBC I Lyari. Thereafter the building contractor absconded.
If the electric meter is faulty and not owned by K-E, who is responsible for the installation of dedicated meters? If the power utility has issues with the building owners or the contractor, why should it harass the flat owners and force them to pay against the `ASSD` theft code their monthly bills for the past four years? This building was constructed in 2004 on a KPT plot of land and it has been without proper electricity for the past 13 years.
K-E authorities are once again requested to install dedicated meters in the building.
