Plan to curb street crime

ISLAMABAD: The capital police have drafted a plan to curb street crime and has divided the city into various beats, all patrolled by 600 policemen, the police said on Thursday.

According to police officials, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Islamabad Sajid Kiani drew up the plan due to increased criminal activity in the federal capital An assistant subinspector, one other police official and one FC officer will be assigned on duty in a sub-sector and their duty timings will be from 5:30pm to 11pm.

All sub-divisional police officers and station house officers will check if these police officials are performing their duties and will brief them about effective policing measures.

Several steps have been taken previously to control crime in the city including the establishment of checking posts, the constitution of Muhafiz squads and the deployment of police officers in markets.. Staff Reporter
