KHAR: Seven people were wounded in a roadside explosion in Bajaur Agency on Thursday.
Officials and local people said that the incident took place near Dabar area, a far-flung locality of Mamond tehsil about 22 kilometres from the agency headquarters Khar.
The officials quoted eyewitnesses as saying that a group of local residents were on way to their homes in Dabar area from a nearby shop when a remote-controlled device placed along the link road went off.
They said that at least seven people were wounded in the blast.
The wounded persons were identified as Abdul Hakeem, Inayatullah, Najeebullah, Noor Rahman, Gul Munir, Abubakar and Sulman Khan.
Residents of the nearby localities reached the spot soon after the explosion and took the wounded to the agency headquarters hospital in Khar.
A doctor at the agency headquarters hospital told this correspondent that condition of some the injured was critical.
No one has yet claimed responsibility for the blast.
Meanwhile, the local administration said that they had launched investigation into the incident to find out who was behind the criminal activity.
An official of the local administration told mediapersons here on Thursday evening that inquiry was under way to expose the elements involved in the blast.
He said that investigation had been launched into the incident, adding that it would be premature to say anything about the perpetrators at this stage.
