Bajaur govt schools` poor performance upsets political administration

KHAR: Bajaur Agency political agent Abdul Jabbar Shah on Tuesday expressed dissatisfaction with the performance of government educational institutions in the recent matriculation examination of the BISE Chakdara.

`Despite the spending of huge amounts of money, the public sector educational institutions in the agency didn`t show good results during the recent matriculation examination,` he said during a meeting of senior administration and education officials.

The participants discussed issues related to educational standard and attendance of teachers in schools and colleges.

The political agent expressed concern over the poor performance of public sector educational institutions and said the people preferred private schools instead of government running schools as they were not satisfied from the per-formances of government schools.

The political agent also showed displeasure over the absence of any proper check and balance system in the education department to keep check the performance of government schools and its teaching staff.

He ordered the officials of educational department to take serious efforts for improving educational standard in the agency.

Abdul Jabbar asked the relevant officials to take revolutionary steps to regain the people confident over the governmental educational in the region.

He said the administration committed to promotion of basic and standard education in the agency as education was critical for durable peace and sustainable development.

The participants decided that the special monitoring committees comprising officials of administration, social activists, tribal elders and workers of political parties would be formed after Eidul Fitr to observe the working of governmentschools across the agency.

They agreed to launch special campaign against teachers long absenting themselves from schools.

The participants decided that first, warnings would be issued to the absenting staff of educational institutions and they would be followed by final show cause notices.

They decided that a ban on the entry of government teachers in the offices of political administration and local education department during duty hours would continue to ensure their presence at workplace during duty hours.

They agreed all educational institutions across the agency would remain closed until further orders.

Earlier, the agency education officer and senior officials briefed participants about the working of educational institutions, including their performance during the recent matriculation examination of BISE Chakdara.
