ISLAMABAD: A local court on Wednesday granted bail to 12 Axact company`s officials, arrested in fake degrees case.
Last week, five officials of the company had already been by the sessions court of Islamabad in the same case.
Additional district and sessions judge Shah Rukh Arjumand ordered the release of 12 Axact officials after each of them deposited Rs100,000 surety bond.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had arrested the officials in the first week of June and produced them before the judicial magistrate.
As per investigating of ficer in this case the accused were booked on charges of fraud, cheating, impersonation and moneylaundering.
According to him, the accused were engaged in `illegal` business of selling `fake` degrees and were transferring `ill-gotten` money to Pakistan through off-shore companies.
The employees of the Axact company on the other hand claimed that they had nothing to do with the decision making and were working on junior positions.
Raja Rizwan Abbasi, counsel for Axact company, on the other hand told the court that the case against his client company was politically motivated and the FIA had no evidence against the detained of ficials.
He claimed that the cases against the company were aimed at damaging its repute within the country and outside. Staff Reporter
