Teenage boy killed, two injured in Lakki firing

LAKKI MARWAT: A teenage boy was killed and two others were injured in a firing attack in Lakki city on Friday.

The shooting incident occurred at the main bus stand, a congested locality.

The body and the wounded men were shifted to the Government City Hospital.

Complainant Najibullah told police that he along with his son, Zakirullah, 16, had come to the area to visit district jail to meet his another son, Ghuf ranullah.

He said their rivals, including Barkatullah and Tariq, shot dead Zakirullah when he was having haircut at a shop.

He said hairdresser, Abdul Waheed and another man, Mohammad Bashir were wounded.

He said his family had a feud with the attackers.

Meanwhile, Bannu deputy commissioner Aun Haidar Gondal has banned display of weapons and firing in air on eve of Eidul Azha.

A notification to this effect was issued on Friday, said an official.

He said the ban was imposed following a report received from the district police of ficer that weapons` display, firing in air, wheelie and use of tinted glass in vehicles might lead to untoward incidents during Eid days.

LEAVES CANCELLED: The Ghaznikhel tehsil municipal administration has cancelled leaves of workers, directing them to ensure their presence on duty station during Eid days.

An official told Dawn on Friday that the tehsil administration had also completed arrangements to keep the town clean on Eid days.

He said special arrangements had been made to dispose of animal remains and remove garbage dumps from the area.

`A control room has been established in the TMA building to facilitate people round the clock,` he maintained.

NARCOTICS SEIZED: The police foiled a bid to smuggle narcotics from Bannu to Lakki Marwat by arresting a trafficker in Bakkakhel area on Friday.

Acting on a tip-of f, a police party arrested the man identified as Mohammad Noman during a raid in the rural locality of Bannu, said an official.

He said the cops seized four kilogrammes of hashish from him.
