Case of missing woman, child registered after three-day delay

TOBA TEK SINGH: The People`s Colony police in Faisalabad registered a case on Sunday night regarding the disappearance of a woman and her daughter from Faisalabad Railway Station on July 5.

Complainant Muhammad Yasir of New Karachi`s Sector F5 said in his first information report (FIR) that he and his family had come to Faisalabad to visit relatives.

They were at Faisalabad railway station on Friday, waiting for transport, when his sister Alisha, 19, went out to a shop with her oneand-a-half-year-old daughter, Insha, to buy some food. Theynever returned.

Soon after, her mobile phone was turned off. When Yasir could not find them, he contacted the railway police, who directed him to the Tarigabad police post, as the incident occurred outside the station.

The police post in charge sent a constable with Yasir to the railway police. Both police units differed over the jurisdiction issue. After a video statement by Yasir posted on social media caught the attention of the regional police officer, the Peoples Colony police registered the FIR under section 496 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).

RAPE: Madina Town police in Faisalabad registered a gang rape case under section 376 of the PPCagainst a man for forcing his wife into prostitution at a guest house on Canal Road where guest house owner and his five accomplices allegedly gang raped her.

The complainant, who identified herself a social worker, said in her FIR that the alleged gang-rape survivor came to her for shelter after her condition deteriorated due to gang rape.

Police were investigating.

Also, a woman was allegedly raped at Gojra on Monday in Chak 351 JB Kalyan Das. The complainant said in his FIR that his wife was alone at home when the suspect of the same village raped her.

The Gojra Saddar police registered a case under section 376 of the PPC.
